Artist Statement
Elsa Jacklitch has the ability to capture the unique flavor of the desert southwest and its surrounding beauty with her landscape photography.
Her subjects include traditional landscapes, flowers, birds and animals, mission churches and southwestern buildings including the architectural details.
Her travels have taken her to other parts of the country and she enjoys capturing the beauty of other areas as well.
There is immense detail in each one of the photographs and refined natural photo composition seeking out intimate landscapes and close-up compositions.
She creates and commands expressive color with her digital photographs through her own uniquely personal relationship with nature.
Her language of visual expression light and color convey intimate qualities of the southwestern desert landscape, a place of vistas, vastness, harshness and beauty.
Standing in front of one of Elsa’s photographs, she has a way of capturing the essence of what ever she is taking a photograph of and makes one stop to take a look.
The photographs allow you to see past them and enter into the subject matter.
She is able to connect with others, sharing her love of Tucson and the southwestern United States through her photographs

Old truck with Hamm's sign and water tower
This photo was taken at the Nelson Ghost Town in Nelson, NV. I used a technique called light painting. You use a long exposure and paint the scene with light. A strobe was place inside the truck with a colored gel over it. This is what gives the blue color to the scene.
