Artist Statement

The act of creating is my passion. Creating an abstract with acrylics and mixed mediums using molding gels and pastes, discarded objects, natural stones and broken jewelry, is an engaging experience in which I rely on the fundamental elements of design.

It’s a process of the addition and subtraction of these elements until they unite in a fascinating vision of beauty, joy and calmness. I believe the objects utilized in these paintings symbolize items man pollutes the earth with.

In this regard, I am showing that art can also serve a purpose beyond being an object of beauty. It can address environmental issues, conservation, sustainability and preservation. On the other hand, art can renew our connection with nature and let us enjoy its amazing beauty.

Using color and form as language, my work is alive with emotion through the movement of brushwork in each layer. The constant balancing of aesthetics is my goal and I am thrilled when viewers tell me what they see in the works because everyone has different life experiences, emotions and inspirations which filter their perceptions.
