Artist Statement
John Staiano is a painter who works exclusively in Acrylics. John Staiano is a painter who works exclusively in Acrylics.
He studied and worked in The Brooklyn Museum Art School, The High School of Music & Art and The Cooper Union (Equivalent Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree). They are all scholarship schools.
His work experience include several Ad Agencies, Major Cosmetic Companies and Magazines.
He has shown in Galleries in New York such as The Agora Gallery and shows and galleries in Miami Florida, Fairfield City and Des Moines Iowa. Presently showing and selling in the Southern Arizona Arts Guild Gallery.
Born and grew up in New York previously moved to Florida the Iowa and now lives and paints in Tucson, Arizona.
His favorite choice of genre is what he calls "Abstract Impressionism".
That is an abstract impression of anything experienced, or seen or felt from day to day.
The paint is applied in most cases not using a brush but spreading the paint on the canvas with a flat object using tape, flat pallet knives, splashing, dripping and even fingers according to the impression on his mind. Impression of energy and movement are important to him.
He also likes to keep a hand in representational art and "imaginary created" portraits which kept mostly personal but shows occasionally.
